Site Audits and Support Horrors: Overcoming the Bad, the Ugly, and the Atrocious when Taking over Sites

One could say that taking over another shop’s website is every developer’s nightmare. Before committing to development work on a new site, Promet requires that we perform a site audit. The findings often reveal the bad, the ugly, and the atrocious when it comes to Drupal sites (and web development more broadly). Hear about some of these findings and (perhaps) share in our agony. Find out how we address the issues found and go on to support these sites, which often involve support mini-projects before taking on development of new functionality.

This session will cover:

  • What a site audit looks like at Promet
  • Tools to aid in performing site audits
  • Red flags to look for
    • How to overcome sites in poor health and move towards sustainable sites
    • Co-development and working with partners (such as Acquia)
    • The importance of documentation and what good documentation looks like
