Jennifer Lea Lampton
Jen Lampton has been actively building sites with Drupal and participating in the open-source community since 2006. She maintains several of her own Drupal modules, and contributes issues & patches to many other projects as it relates to the needs of her work. Jen is a very active member in the Drupal community. She is the lead organizer for the Bay Area Drupal Camp (BADCamp), and was also on the organizing committee for DrupalCon San Francisco in 2010. Jen regularly attends Drupal Meet-ups in and around the San Francisco bay area, and drops in on many other Drupal camps and conferences around the world.
Jen's primary focus for improving Drupal is to make things easier to use ("usability") and easier to learn ("learnability"). Jen spent almost 2 years as the Twig "initiative" lead for Drupal 8, wrangling a ton of very awesome contributors to get the modern template engine into Drupal core.
More recently however, Jen noticed Drupal shifting away from the grasps of the average web developer. Together with Nate "quicksketch" Haug, Jen has become one of the Founding Forkers behind Backdrop CMS.
There’s a cost that comes with change, and not all of the Drupal community will be able to afford the bill when Drupal 8 is released. Backdrop stands between Drupal 7 and Drupal 8, including features that are comparable to Drupal 8, but built on the familiar architecture of Drupal 7. Backdrop also removes some of the complexity that only benefits the 1%, making the system easier to learn, easier to use, and more performant for the 99%. This creates a lower barrier to entry, and places Backdrop CMS closer to the expanding WordPress market.
